Poligeenan is produced from the dangerous chemical processing that involves the acid bath. Most people believe that once they consume the foods containing the carrageenan, the digestive system of the body will turn the carrageenan into poligeenan which will create health issues for the body. Is such claim really true?
You see, to make the red algae extract to poligeenan, you will need an acid bath that takes at least 6 hours of processing, a high temperature, and also the acidity level of 1. If you want to use your logic, you will see that such thing is impossible. Your body’s digestive system doesn’t hold up to 6 hours to complete – the standard time is around 2 or 3 hours and your digestive system will be done working. Moreover, your body’s temperature won’t be able to reach the level that can convert the carrageenan into poligeenan. And another important thing to note, the body’s acidity level is around 2.5 and it will never go down as 1. So, as you can see, all the requirements to convert carrageenan to poligeenan aren’t met.
