How It Works

Poligeenan is produced from the dangerous chemical processing that involves the acid bath. Most people believe that once they consume the foods containing the carrageenan, the digestive system of the body will turn the carrageenan into poligeenan which will create health issues for the body. Is such claim really true?

You see, to make the red algae extract to poligeenan, you will need an acid bath that takes at least 6 hours of processing, a high temperature, and also the acidity level of 1. If you want to use your logic, you will see that such thing is impossible. Your body’s digestive system doesn’t hold up to 6 hours to complete – the standard time is around 2 or 3 hours and your digestive system will be done working. Moreover, your body’s temperature won’t be able to reach the level that can convert the carrageenan into poligeenan. And another important thing to note, the body’s acidity level is around 2.5 and it will never go down as 1. So, as you can see, all the requirements to convert carrageenan to poligeenan aren’t met. That’s why there is no way that your body can produce poligeenan as most people believe.

Some people are really persistent about this carrageenan-poligeenan thing. They claim that it is possible that some of the poligeenan to be included in the food manufacturing process due to contamination. But you need to remember, the process to make carrageenan and poligeenan are completely different. Different manufacturing plants or processes will also be different. So there is no way that there is such thing as poligeenan contamination in the regular food processing industry.
